1. Overview of the Forum
Hosting the SCO Forum on Traditional Medicine is a key measure to implement the consensus reached at the 19th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of SCO on strengthening health cooperation, promoting and practicing the “Shanghai Spirit”, deepening international exchange and cooperation in traditional medicine, building a closer SCO community with a shared future, creating a “Healthy Silk Road”, and enhancing people's health and well-being. At the 2020 SCO Summit, President Xi Jinping emphasized that traditional medicine has demonstrated unique value and significant importance in combating the pandemic. All parties should prioritize people-centered approaches, deepen cooperation, preserve tradition while innovating, engage in mutual learning, promote the development of TCM alongside other countries' traditional medicines, and make greater contributions to building a global health community.
2. Impact of the Forum
Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Parkhomchik described the forum as a “crystallization of cultural wisdom”, while Maldives Minister of Health Khaleel called it a key platform for deepening cooperation among member states. Representatives from multiple countries expressed their commitment to jointly promoting the application of traditional medicine in public health systems.
