Jiangzhong News (Reporters Yang Qingyue, Yu Hao): On November 14–15, the 2024 International Industry-University-Research-Application Cooperation Conference (Jiangxi Session) TCM High-Quality Development Cooperation Meeting, hosted by the Center for School Development and Planning, Ministry of Education, and Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education, organized by Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine, and co-organized by China Resources Jiangzhong Group, was held in Nanchang. Themed “High-Quality Development of TCM from a Global Perspective: Deep Integration and Innovation in Industry-University-Research-Application”, the meeting focused on “standards and regulations, pharmaceutical technology, and interdisciplinary collaboration”, exploring new paths for international TCM cooperation in Jiangxi to contribute wisdom and strength to global health.

Attendees included Academician Yue Jianmin of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Lima, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Lisbon, Portugal; Professor Normakhamatov Nodirali, Vice President of Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute, Uzbekistan; Lei Jiehua, Level-II Inspector of Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education; Tang Yunzhi, Party Group Member of Jiangxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology; Zhou Qiusheng, Deputy Director and Level-II Inspector of Jiangxi Provincial Administration of TCM; Zhu Weifeng, Deputy Secretary and President of Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine; Liu Lixin, Deputy Secretary of China Resources Jiangzhong; Professor Yan Ru, from the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences and State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine at the University of Macau, member of the Macao SAR Chinese Patent Medicine Review Expert Advisory Committee, and Deputy Director of the Macao Chinese Medicine R&D Center; and Zheng Linyun, Executive Deputy Director of Shanghai Institute of International TCM Standardization. The meeting was chaired by Chen Huanwen, Vice President of Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine, with experts, scholars, and representatives from domestic and international institutions and Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine attending.

China-Portugal Joint Laboratory for Traditional Medicine Project Launch Ceremony

During the meeting, under the witness of attending leaders, the university and the University of Lisbon held the launch ceremony for the China-Portugal Joint Laboratory for Traditional Medicine Project. The China-Portugal Joint Laboratory for Traditional Medicine was approved as a 2024 National Key R&D Program under the “Intergovernmental International Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation” special project for China-Europe joint laboratory cooperation. It is the university's first approved project under this category, the first China-Europe international joint laboratory project approved in Jiangxi Province, and the only TCM project among 35 approved projects in this batch, marking a new breakthrough for the university in international joint technology projects and platform construction.

In the keynote report session, Academician Yue Jianmin spoke on “Natural Products as an Important Resource for Drug Discovery”; Professor Lima spoke on “European Drug Development and Management Science”; Professor Normakhamatov Nodirali spoke on “Opportunities and Challenges in the Coordinated Development of Traditional and Modern Medicine in Uzbekistan”; and Zheng Linyun spoke on “Overview of International TCM Standardization Development”. These discussions on drug development and the integration of traditional and modern medicine provided an academic feast of diverse and profound insights for online and offline participants.

At the “China-Portugal Traditional Medicine Cooperation Seminar”, academic reports were delivered by Professor Lima, Professor Yan Ru, Professor Silva, Associate Professor Ribeiro, and Professor Wu Zhenfeng.

At the “Young Scholars Innovation Report” session, young scholars from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Jiangxi, Guangxi, and Shaanxi Universities of Chinese Medicine, as well as Nanchang University, Jiangxi Science and Technology Normal University, Gannan Medical University, Jinggangshan University, Jiujiang University, Yichun University, and Nanchang Medical College, delivered academic reports.

The International Industry-University-Research-Application Cooperation Conference has been successfully held for five sessions, becoming an important platform for promoting cooperation in industry-university-research-application, connecting global education, talent, innovation, and industry chains. Since hosting the 2022 International Industry-University-Research-Application Cooperation Conference (Nanchang) on Traditional Medicine Industry and Development, our university has achieved significant results, signing cooperation agreements with domestic and international universities, research institutions, and enterprises, establishing platforms like the SCO Medical University Alliance and WFCMS Transdermal Drug Delivery Innovation Research Platform, and actively promoting joint mentorship programs.
