The Jianchang Medicine Gang in Jiangxi is a major southern medicine gang, historically combined with the Zhangshu Medicine Gang as the "Jiangxi Gang", one of the 13 major medicine gangs nationwide. The Jianchang Medicine Gang has a long history and wide regional influence, impacting TCM circles in Jiangxi, Fujian, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and some overseas countries, renowned for its processing methods for TCM decoction pieces and trade operations, with the historical TCM saying, "Medicines are ineffective without passing through Zhangshu, and incomplete without passing through Jianchang". This article verifies the origin, development, and formation history of the Jianchang Medicine Gang through historical materials, literature, preserved traditional TCM processing methods, and surveys of descendants of Jianchang pharmaceutical families, aiming to provide a basis for historical evaluation and continued development of the Jianchang Medicine Gang.
