Wuyuan, located at the junction of Jiangxi, Anhui, and Zhejiang provinces, was praised in ancient times as "Dazhang towers over Huirao, Zhuzi continues Zou-Lu, majestic mountains rise, extraordinary sages emerge, truly a renowned spiritual area in the land; south of the Yangtze, none matches its fame in culture and relics." It is known as the "Town of Books", "Town of Tea", and "Southeast Zou-Lu". At the same time, it has a flourishing medical tradition with renowned figures emerging. According to incomplete statistics, from the Southern Song to the Republic of China, Wuyuan had over 200 physicians, more than 10 imperial doctors, and nearly 100 surviving medical texts.
