The Xujiang Medical School, with a long history, is one of China's four major ancient regional medical schools (Xujiang, Lingnan, Xin'an, and Menhe), originating relatively early. It symbolizes the prosperity of Jiangxi medicine and has had a profound influence. The Xujiang Medical School is distributed across 16 counties in Jiangxi Province along the main and tributaries of the Xujiang (Fu River), including Guangchang, Nanfeng, Nancheng, Lichuan, Zixi, Jinxi, Lean, Yihuang, Chongren, Fuzhou (Linchuan), Dongxiang, Fengcheng, Qingjiang (Zhangshu), Jinxian, Nanchang, and Xinjian. Recent verification of Xujiang medical history confirms that from the Western Han Dynasty to the Republic of China, the Xujiang basin had 2,027 medical practitioners and 821 medical texts, nurturing the "Apricot Grove Flag" (Xinglin culture) and "Double Show of Medicine Gangs" (Jianchang and Zhangshu medicine gangs), which continue to shine brilliantly. The Xujiang Medical School produced numerous renowned physicians, rich medical literature, and flourishing medicine, forming a unique regional medical group. The school's history is long, originating in the pre-Qin period, flourishing in the Ming and Qing dynasties, and continuing to today. This section categorizes its early development into pre-Qin budding, Han-Jin rise, and Tang promotion as budding, origin, and early development stages.
