On December 2, Yu Yanhong, member of the Party Group of the National Health Commission, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, met with Saia Piukala, WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific, and Bruce Alyward, WHO Assistant Director-General, accompanied by Huang Luqi and Wang Sicheng, Deputy Directors and members of the Party Group of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on strengthening cooperation in traditional medicine, promoting global traditional medicine development, and jointly organizing the 2024 World Traditional Medicine Conference.
Yu Yanhong introduced new progress and achievements in the inheritance and innovative development of TCM, and thanked the WHO for sending high-level representatives to China to attend the 2024 World Traditional Medicine Conference. She stated that China will continue to support the WHO in playing a leading role in global traditional medicine development, taking the WHO's new round of traditional medicine strategy as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with WHO headquarters and the Western Pacific Region, contributing TCM strength to promoting global traditional medicine development.
Saia Piukala and Bruce Alyward stated that the WHO and China have a solid foundation for cooperation in traditional medicine, achieving a series of landmark results, and on behalf of WHO headquarters and the Western Pacific Region, expressed high appreciation and warm congratulations to China for hosting the 2024 World Traditional Medicine Conference.
