At the invitation of the World Health Organization, Yu Yanhong, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the National Health Commission of China, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, led a delegation to visit the WHO Headquarters on October 28, where they held talks with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Both sides had in-depth discussions on strengthening cooperation in the field of traditional medicine and jointly promoting the global advancement and development of traditional medicine.
During the visit, Yu Yanhong and Bruce Alyward, Assistant Director-General of the World Health Organization, jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Traditional Medicine between the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People's Republic of China and the World Health Organization. The Memorandum of Understanding updates the one signed in 2018 and outlines cooperation in areas such as evidence-based traditional medicine, regulatory standards, supervision, integration, and international exchange.
Ambassador Chen Xu, Permanent Representative of China to Geneva, and officials from the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine attended the event.
