On November 30, the 2023 SCO Forum on Traditional Medicine opened at the China (Nanchang) TCM Science and Innovation City. Domestic and international guests visited the China Resources Jiangzhong modern production base, the TCM Exhibition Hall, and the Traditional Medicine Industry Exhibition Hall at the China (Nanchang) TCM Science and Innovation City, observed demonstrations of “Zhangshu School” and “Jianchang School” TCM processing techniques, experienced the “magic” of TCM, and discussed the inheritance and innovation of traditional medicine.

That afternoon, foreign guests visited the “Medicine Capital” Zhangshu to experience TCM culture and its charm.

Feeling History, Reflecting on the Present At Renhe’s “863” Science and Technology Park, foreign guests toured the product exhibition hall and automated e-commerce logistics warehouse. As a leading pharmaceutical company, Renhe has 49 drug production lines and two provincial technology centers, achieving a remarkable 200-fold growth over 20 years. Based on classic and proven TCM prescriptions, Renhe invested RMB 2 billion to independently develop a range of high-quality TCM preparations, promoting innovation in the TCM industry. Su Su Dwe, Director of the Department of Traditional Medicine of Myanmar’s Ministry of Health, told reporters: “Not only are there advanced production lines, but the scenery is beautiful, and the buildings have a charming ancient style, which I really like.”

At Zhangshu’s TCM Street, foreign guests visited the National Medicine Hall, local TCM specialty halls, rehabilitation and wellness halls, Jiuniushen Herb Exhibition Hall, and Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall. Shujun, Director of Nepal’s Chetrapati Free Clinic Center, after experiencing moxibustion, said: “My whole body feels warm and full of energy; the effect is excellent.” Anwar Sarsembayev, a first-class expert from the SCO Secretariat in Kazakhstan, exclaimed at the “magical” TCM diagnostic process of “observation, listening/smelling, inquiry, and pulse-taking” at the National Medicine Hall.

At the China Medicine Capital TCM Museum, foreign guests immersed themselves in TCM’s charm through various exhibition zones, gaining a deeper understanding of its history, types, and characteristics. Foreign guests were captivated by the museum’s layout, content, lighting, and sound effects, frequently expressing amazement.

Thet Khaing Win, Myanmar’s Minister of Health and Sports, said the Zhangshu visit deepened his understanding of TCM, and he hopes to introduce its wonders to more people in his country. “I look forward to more cooperation with Jiangxi in TCM. Myanmar also has a dedicated TCM administration, and we hope to collaborate with Jiangxi’s TCM Administration to promote the development of the traditional medicine industry,” he said.
